Plant a Seed, Save the World

April 24th, 2013

The great Chinese philosopher, Confucius, said, “If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed; if in terms of ten years, plant trees, if in terms of 100 years, teach the people.” At Henderson International School, we are proud to plant seeds every day with a high level of student-focused learning, HIS ARbor
geared toward development of critical thinking skills. We encourage community service and sustainability with our students, helping them to
become citizens of the world able to compete in the global marketplace.

Through our recycling program and sustainability projects, we promote hands-on involvement in cleaner and greener living. The TerraCycle program encourages recycling at an early age, instilling this habit so it becomes second nature to our students.  Students learn about helping others and their part in a larger world.  Recycled items are turned into school supplies for struggling children and points earned are translated into charitable donations to benefit people around the globe.

It is our mission to plant seeds of hope in the classroom, community and around the world.  In honor of creating a better planet, we will commemorate Arbor Day on April 26.  On Arbor Day, people are encouraged to plant trees.  The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will visit Henderson International School to plant a tree and give a presentation on the importance of trees on Thursday, April 25.
