The school year’s over!  You made it through!  Now what do you do to stay busy?  It’s fortunate that you live in such a beautiful area with so manyDSC_0218 activities, indoors and outdoors.  If you want to stay really close to home, you can visit the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden or Henderson Multigenerational Center.

It’s a little further away, but Las Vegas is a very close neighbor.  It’s just a hop and a skip to check out the Children’s Discovery Museum that just opened in Downtown Las Vegas.  Also, the Springs Preserve is always fun and engaging!

To go further afield, you’ve got Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire or Mt. Charleston for great hiking, biking and even some camping options.

The Las Vegas Valley is a great central hub for the whole southwest.  You’ve got 13 of the most uniquely beautiful national parks within easy driving distance.  The summertime is a perfect time to escape the Vegas heat and check out Northern Nevada by visiting Great Basin National Park in Elko, Nevada.  You can keep going east to Utah and visit Arches, Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.  Heading west, you can easily visit Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite in Northern California.

Whatever you decide to do, whether it’s close to home or farther away, enjoy yourself.  You deserve it!
